Canyon Carver

It's hard to imagine how this gentle river carved the Grand Canyon further down stream. It seems so harmless with its rippled, reflective surface. This spot lies just south of Moab, Utah. Directly behind me was a giant cliff wall covered in ancient petroglyphs, carved into the sandstone. Maybe a photo of that will pop up sometime down the road. For now, just enjoy the beautiful Colorado.

By the way, Hurricane Irene wasn't too bad here in Philadelphia. We lost some trees and power briefly.
