I'm not sure why they call it the Green River. From where I stood there was not much green about it! None the less, it was a spectacular view from the plateau 2000 ft above. The river joins the Colorado just a few miles downstream from here where they begin carving the Grand Canyon. After a few days in the area, you get an awed sense of just what water erosion can do; the river actually used to be 2000 ft higher. Cool huh?!

Sunset Over the Lake
I love a good sunset! The colors bouncing off the clouds only last for a few minutes and they seem to shift hue constantly. Yellow turns to orange then pink. There seems to be a distinctly different color every moment. This shot was taken at Utah Lake. At one point, just before all the light was gone, the whole sky seemed to be a deep rosy red.

Mountain Reservoir
A few months ago, we took a trip with my cousin, Karen, and her husband, Zack, to visit our aunt and uncle in good old Idaho. They were excellent tour guides and took us to their cabin in the mountains next to this huge reservior. The scenery was perfect and the company exceptional!

Aspen Grove
I seem to be on a roll with these posts lately! I've finally had some time to edit a few photos, but not for long. Orientation starts next week at Penn Dental.
In our last week in Utah we took one last drive through Aspen Grove. The place is so picturesque with the solid fern undergrowth. This photo, as well as a lot of my shots, is a HDR. I learned the technique from stuckincustoms.com

Milky Way Galaxy
I took this photo while at Arches National Park this summer. There's so little light pollution there! This shot was exposed for 30 seconds.

Twilight Arch Delicacy
The past couple months have been super busy with the move to Philadelphia, but I finally have some time to post-process some of this summer's photos before dental school starts. In June we hiked up to the Delicate Arch (the one on Utah license plates) and stayed up there for a few hours till the stars came out. There was so little light pollution that I was able to get this great shot! Can you guess what the amber light is down in the valley?

New Blog, Old Photo: CATERPILLAR 641
Welcome to the new blog design. It doesn't have the fancy gallery like the old one did, but it also doesn't have the confusing programing and glitches like the old design did. It's still a work in progress, but I hope you find it functional. So to kick off the new design, here's a photo I took a couple years ago, revamped after a visit to Adobe Lightroom (that I didn't have back then). CATERPILLAR 641 is part of an abandoned quarry that never got its feet off the ground within walking distance of my home. It looks awful for the neighborhood, but shows some real character up close.

Meadow Stream Pool
This week I drove up the beautiful Hobble Creek Canyon in Springville, UT. I drove slowly, rolled down my windows and enjoyed the spring breeze as I took in the scenery until I realized a wasp has somehow made it into my car, so I pulled over and went for a short hike so the wasp could go home. That short hike turned into a long one because I found this beautiful meadow, and the sun was just right for some great photos.

Max and Corey's Engagements
My good buddy, Max, is getting married this summer, so he asked me to take his engagement photos. His sweet fiance, Corey, lives in Ohio, so on one of the weekends that she was visiting we went to take the engagements. It was one bitterly cold day, but these two had so much fun letting me take pictures of them that the cold didn't phase them!

Hawaii
In February, we went on amazing trip to Hawaii. We went to the Big Island and to Oahu. Basically, it was a really good excuse to take lots and lots of pictures. In between the two of us we took over 2,000 pictures! So here are the best of our many, many favorites. Several of these were even taken from helicopter. Coolest helicopter ride ever!
